  1. Each team will get a scoresheet — input your roster and follow it.
  2. Both teams put up rosters at the same time.
  3. Flip a coin for home or visitor. Winner of the flip picks home or away. Home team breaks first.
  4. Scoresheets will be provided for roster lineup, breaks, and scoring.
  5. You can’t win or lose on the break.
  6. If you foul on the break (such as a miscue), it’s your opponent’s option to break.
  7. If teams can’t agree on something during a match, the TD or ref makes the final call. A re-rack of that one rack may occur if there can’t be a just decision.
  8. If anyone thinks there may be a foul on a shot, call the TD, a ref, or someone not involved in the match to watch the shot. If no one is called over, the call goes to the shooter.
  9. If the cue ball is pocketed or jumps off the table, it is ball in hand for the opponent.
  10. If any other ball jumps off the table on the break or any other time, it is a foul — the ball stays down and it is ball in hand for your opponent.
  11. Shot Clock — A 45-second shot clock can be enforced by a team if another team is taking a long time between shots. A warning must be given first. Once enforced, both teams are on it.
  12. Stalemate — If a game is not advancing, after 3 foul shots by each team (6 fouls total), re-rack and the original breaker breaks.
  13. If teams can’t agree on something during a match, they may re-rack that one game and the original breaker breaks.
  14. Conduct — Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Depending on the situation, the TD may issue: warnings, hard warnings, ball-in-hand fouls, game loss, or forfeit of the entire match (which would take a lot).
  1. Once you start a Scotch match, you must stay in the same order the entire time — even after a win.
  2. Players can call a foul if their opponent(s) shoot out of rotation. They have until the next shot is taken to call the foul, even if the next shot is the break.

Teams will be put on a 45-second shot clock for any match that has not finished 2.5 hours after it has started. In addition, if the match hasn’t finished 3 hours after it has started, each game won will count as two wins instead of one for the duration of the match.

Once your match is called, you have 5 minutes to get to the table and begin. After 5 minutes, your opponent has the right to put you on the clock. You will receive a one-game loss for every 5 minutes that goes by without reporting. After 15 minutes total, you concede the match entirely.

If the shot you are attempting is not an obvious shot, make sure it is VERY clear to your opponent what you are attempting to do — especially on the 10. We use slow-motion video to film certain shots, and we always try to get the right call. Keep in mind we are not professional refs and don’t have Superman vision — we always try our best. There will not be a debate on calls; our call is final.

There will be both singles games and scotch doubles games during the match.

  1. Singles — No timeouts.
  2. Scotch Doubles — Each team gets 1 timeout per rack.
  3. Hill/Hill — If the match goes hill/hill, captains flip for the last break.
  4. The final game is a 1-game Scotch Quadruples (all 4 players involved). The 10 ball must be the last ball made. You can combo the 10 at any time (then spot it) to continue shooting, but the 10 must be last.
  5. It can be any of the 4 players (sub included) on the roster, in any order, as long as they are below the 2200 cap. This one game determines the match.
  6. The team that wins the flip tells their opponents what order they will shoot in, then vice versa. Teams can choose whatever order they want for this one game.
  7. NO TIMEOUTS for this final game.
  1. Make it very clear that you have not used your timeout before talking to your partner.
  2. It is not a foul if a player tells their partner to make sure their opponents know what they are doing.
  3. It is not a foul to ask if you have used your timeout or not.
  4. Both players can call timeouts.
  5. Both players can waive off a timeout — this is not considered a timeout.
  6. If you have used your timeout and you talk to your partner while shooting, the first time is a hard warning; any time after that is a ball-in-hand foul. TD must give the warning.
  7. In a timeout and with ball in hand, either player can move the cue.
  8. Both players can be at the table at the same time and can use any object(s) to help their partner.
  9. If you are not involved in the game, please do not talk to the players while they are at the table shooting.
  1. Breaks will be shown on scoresheets.
  2. Rack your own.
  3. 1 ball goes on the spot, 10 in the middle, and the 2 and 3 in the back corners.
  4. Templates can be used, but you must bring your own. If you use a template, you must give the option to your opponent to use it as well. Please inform your opponent if you plan on using a template. Both teams don’t have to use the same racking tool.

There is NOT a 3 foul rule

This tournament does not enforce the 3-foul rule.

  1. When racking, the 1 ball goes on the spot and the 2 and 3 balls go in the back corners of the rack.
  2. The 10 ball does not count on the break in any pocket. If you make the 10 ball, it is still that team’s turn — spot the 10.
  3. The 10 ball can be a combo shot after the break for a win. Must be called.
  4. If the cue ball is pocketed or jumps off the table, it is ball in hand for the opponent.
  5. When on the 10 ball, if you foul, it’s ball in hand.
  6. If any other ball jumps off the table on the break or any other time, it is a foul — the ball stays down and it’s ball in hand for your opponent. If the 10 jumps off the table, it is not a loss but a foul — you spot the 10 and it’s ball in hand for your opponent.
  7. If you accidentally knock a ball in with your hand, clothes, cue, or any object, then you re-spot that ball. This is not a foul.

You can push after the break. If you do so, your opponent has the option to shoot from that position or give it back to you. If they give it back, it goes to the next person in the rotation.

Example: Team 1 Players A & B vs Team 2 Players C & D. Team 1 Player A breaks and decides to push. Team 2 Player C gives it back to Team 1 — it is now Team 1 Player B’s turn. The next time Team 2 shoots, it is Team 2 Player D’s turn. (Team 2 Player C gave up their shot when they pushed.)

If a player illegally pockets a ball, their opponent has the option to shoot from that position or give it back to the team that made the illegal ball.

  1. If you have an established Fargo (min 400 games for Texas players, min 800 games for out-of-state players), we go by that.
  2. There are exceptions: if your known ability is very different from your Fargo rating, it will be a TD decision on what you play as — both before and during the tournament.
  3. If you have an APA SL and no established Fargo, the chart below applies. Minimum 10 matches played. This chart can also be overridden by TD decision based on known ability.
  4. Goes by the highest Fargo.
  5. Goes by Fargo’s the day before the tournament.
  6. If you have less than 500 games in Fargo and we don’t know you, there’s a chance we’ll look into you further.
  7. Every brand-new player must make their matches public so they can be verified.
  8. If you have neither an established Fargo nor an APA ranking, and we don’t have enough information on you, you will automatically come in as a 600 Fargo — no exceptions.
  9. *TD discretion is always in effect.

Fargo / APA SL Chart

APA SL 1 = 250 · APA SL 2 = 300 · APA SL 3 = 350 · APA SL 4 = 400 · APA SL 5 = 450 · APA SL 6 = 500 · 7s, 8s, 9s = TD decision

  1. If you sign up and your team is under 2200 at that time, the TD will allow a 20-point cushion per team.
  1. 1–11 teams: top 2 paid.
  2. 12–15 teams: top 3 paid.
  3. 16–20 teams: top 4 paid.

Side Pots

Besides the Advanced Players meeting and online bonus, this tournament has 2 separate side pots. You can do none, one, or both. Side pots are due in cash on the day of the tournament. See payout chart for possible payouts.

  1. Side Pot 1 — $100 WTA (Winner Takes All).
  2. Side Pot 2 — $200. Payouts determined by how many teams enter.
  1. Some things are TD decisions, especially when it comes to Fargo ratings and unsportsmanlike conduct. The TD will be as fair as possible across the board.
  2. Please respect each other, Clicks staff, and the establishment — conduct good sportsmanship throughout the entire tournament.
  3. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please reach out — text or message on Facebook.
  4. *TD = Tournament Director.
  5. *TD will update these guidelines if needed.

LET’S HAVE FUN!!!!!
