Jumping is allowed
Alternate breaks
Flip a coin for first break
You can’t win or lose on the break.
If you foul on the break such as a miscue, it's your opponent’s option to break.
If teams can’t agree on something during a match, then TD or ref will make the final call. A possible re-rack of that 1 rack will occur if there can’t be a just decision.
If anyone thinks there might be a foul on a shot please call TD, a ref or someone that is not involved in that match over to watch the shot. If you do not call someone over it is going to go to the shooter.
If the cue ball is pocketed or jumps off the table it is ball in hand for the opponent.
If any other ball jumps off the table on the break or any other time it is a foul and the ball stays down and ball in hand for your opponent.
A 45 second shot clock can be enforced by a team if another team is taking a long time in between shots. A warning must be given first. If a shot clock is enforced both teams are on it.
Stale mate-
If any team is not advancing the game and after 3 foul shots by each team so 6 fouls total. Then re-rack and the original breaker breaks.
If the teams can’t agree on something during a match, they can re-rack that one game and the original breaker breaks
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Depending on the situation TD could decide if conduct should have a disciplinary action done, such as: warnings, hard warnings, BIH fouls, game loss, or a forfeit of the entire match (which would take a lot)
Watch a Shot-
If the shot, you are attempting is not an obvious shot make sure it is VERY clear your opponent knows what you are attempting to do. Especially on the 10. We use slow motion video to film certain shots; we ALWAYS try to get the right call. That’s why we film it but keep in mind we are not professional refs, and we don’t have Superman vision, we always try to do our best to get the right call. There will not be a debate on calls, our call is final.
Out of Rotation-
Once you start a Scotch match, you must stay in that same order the entire time. Even after a Win.
Players can call a foul if their opponent(s) shoot out of rotation. They have until the next shot is taken to call a foul, even if the next shot is the break.
5 Minute Cushion Time Limit-
Once your match is called you have 5 minutes to get to the table and begin your match. After 5 minutes your opponent has the right to put you on the clock. At this point you will receive a one game loss for every 5 minutes that goes by and you have not reported to the table. After 15 minutes you will concede the match entirely.
Timeouts-
Make sure it is VERY clear that you have not used this timeout before talking to your partner
It is not a foul if a player tells their partner to make sure their opponents know what they are doing
It is not a foul if you ask if you have used or not used your timeout
Both players can call timeouts.
Both players can waive off a timeout and this is not considered a timeout
If you have a used your timeout and you talk to your partner while y’all are shooting, first time will be a hard warning and any time after that warning will be a ball in hand foul. TD must give the warning.
In a time out and w/ball in hand either player can move the cue
Both players can be at the table at the same time and can use any object(s) to help their partner
If you are not involved in the game, please do not talk to the players while they are at the table shooting
Breaking and Racking-
Breaks will be shown on scoresheets
Rack your own
Templates can be used but you must bring your own. If you use a template, you must give the option to your opponent to use it as well. Please inform your opponent if you plan on using a template. Both teams don’t have to use the same racking tool
8 Ball Rules-
8 does not count on the break
If you do, make the 8 on the break the shooter can either spot the 8 ball and continue shooting from that position they are in or they can re-rack that rack and the same shooter will break again. Other than this situation always stays in rotation.
Scratch on the 8 does not mean you lose. It is ball in hand for your opponent. Unless you scratch on the 8 and both the cue ball and ball both drop, then it is a loss.
Early 8 at any time is a loss and so is if you pocket the 8 in a wrong pocket
If the cue ball is pocketed or jumps off the table, it is ball in hand for the opponent.
If any other ball jumps off the table on the break or any other time it is a foul and the ball stays down and ball in hand for your opponent
10 Ball Rules-
There is NOT a 3 foul rule
When racking the 1 ball goes on the spot and the 2&3 balls go in the back corners of the rack
10 ball does not count on the break in any pocket. If you make the 10 ball it is still that teams turn and spot the 10.
10 ball can be a combo shot after the break for a win. Must be called
If the cue ball is pocketed or jumps off the table, it is ball in hand for the opponent.
When on the 10 ball if you foul it’s BIH
If any other ball jumps off the table on the break or any other time it is a foul and the ball stays down and ball in hand for your opponent. If the 10 jumps on the table, it is not a loss but a foul. You spot the 10 and its ball in hand for your opponent
If you accidentally knock a ball in with your hand, clothes, cue or any object then you re spot that ball. This is not a foul
Pushing-
You can push after the break. If you do so, your opponent has the option to shoot from that position or give it back to you. If they do give it back, then it goes to the next person in the rotation. (Ex. Team 1 Players A&B vs Team 2 Players C&D, Team 1 Player A breaks and then decides to push, Team 2 Player C gives it back to Team 1, it is then Team 1 Player B’s turn. After this the next time Team 2 shoots it is now the turn of Team 2 Player D. Team 2 Player C gave up their shot when they pushed)
Option-
If a player illegally pockets a ball, their opponent has the option to shoot from that position or give it back to the team that made the illegal ball.
Eligible Players-
If you have an established Fargo (min 400 games for Texas players and min 800 games for out-of-state players) I will go by that.
There are EXCEPTIONS to this. If your known ability is very different from your Fargo rating it WILL be a TD decision on what you play as. This is BEFORE and DURING the tournament.
It will go by this chart if you have an APA SL and not an established Fargo. Must have a min of 10 matches played. Also, this chart can be TD decision based on known ability
Fargo/APA SL Chart
APA SL 1=250
APA SL 2=300
APA SL 3=350
APA SL 4=400
APA SL 5=450
APA SL 6=500
7s, 8s, 9s=TD decision
Goes by the HIGHEST Fargo
Goes by Fargo’s day before tournament.
If you have less than 500 games in Fargo, and I do not know you there is a chance I will look into you a litter further.
Every brand-new player must make their matches public so I can verify them.
If you have neither an established Fargo nor APA ranking and I do not have enough information on you then you will automatically come in as a 600 Fargo. No Exceptions!
*TD discretion is always in effect
Point Cushion-
If you sign up and your team is under 1100 at that time, TD will allow a 10-point cushion per team

16-20 top 4
17-23 top 4
