Each team plays two matches per league day

Game Format and Scoring

The league plays 8-ball using modified BCA rules.

Follow the official scoresheet for the game order, player assignments, and breaking order.

Scoring:

- The winner of each game receives 10 points.

- The loser receives 1 point for each ball made.

Handicapped Points Per Round-

Each Round is Handicapped based on what 4 players are playing that round

You will add up the total of all 4 players that round and use this chart.

50 points difference = 2 points

100 points difference = 4 points

150 points difference = 6 points

200 points difference = 8 points

250 or above points difference = 10 points

Team Fargo Cap

The combined team Fargo rating must be 2,200 or lower for each round.

Match Layout

Each match consists of 23 games, including:

- Singles games

- Scotch doubles games

- A final scotch quads game

Each team will have a scoresheet. Follow it from top to bottom.

Standings Tiebreakers

Ties will be decided in this order:

1. Head-to-head results: If one team wins both matches against the other, that team wins the tiebreaker.

2. Combined head-to-head points: If the teams split their matches 1–1, the team with the higher combined point total from those two matches wins the tiebreaker.

General Playing Rules

Breaking and Racking

- Follow the scoresheet to determine who breaks.

- Rack your own rack.

- Rack templates are allowed, but they will not be provided.

- A player cannot win or lose on the break.

- Making the 8-ball on the break does not count as a win.

If the 8-ball is made on the break, the shooter may choose to:

1. Spot the 8-ball and continue shooting from the current cue-ball position; or

2. Re-rack, with the same shooter breaking again.

The 8-Ball and Scratches

After the break:

- Scratching while shooting at the 8-ball does not result in a loss if the 8-ball stays on the table. The opponent receives ball in hand.

- Pocketing both the 8-ball and cue ball on the same shot is a loss.

- Pocketing the 8-ball early is a loss.

- Pocketing the 8-ball in the wrong pocket is a loss.

Close Hits and Disputes

If a shot may involve a foul, call the league operator or someone who is not involved in the match to watch before the shot is taken.

If no one is called to watch, the decision goes to the shooter.

Players may also record a potentially close hit. If no neutral observer is available, recording the shot in slow motion is recommended.

If teams cannot reach a fair resolution to a disagreement, they may re-rack the disputed game, with the same player breaking again.

Additional Rules

- Jump shots are allowed.

- Scotch matches may be played in any order.

- Players must be based in the DFW area.

- League results will not be reported to Fargo.

Timeouts and Coaching

- Each team is allowed one timeout per rack, lasting no more than one minute.

- Only players involved in the game may call a timeout.

- The player or team captain may decline a timeout.

- Any player on the team may serve as the coach during a timeout.

- Only the shooter and coach may be at the table during the timeout.

Substitutes

- Substitutes may play in any round but must remain in the lineup for the entire round.

- Substitutions must be announced before the round begins.

- The team must remain within the 2,200 Fargo cap for that round.

Rescheduling

All makeup matches must be coordinated with both teams and the league operator.

Everyone must be included in scheduling discussions so the date, time, and arrangements are clear to all parties.

Forfeits

If a match is forfeited:

- The winning team receives its average points per match.

- The forfeiting team receives zero points.

A no-call, no-show results in an automatic forfeit.

Teams Dropping Out

If a team drops out during the session for any reason other than an extreme emergency, that team will not be eligible to return to the league until all outstanding dues from previous sessions are paid.

Please note, if a team drops out and does not pay for their remaining fees, this will affect the payouts.

Payments

Electronic payments only, through the DCTX website:

Player Eligibility and Ratings

Established Fargo Ratings

An established Fargo rating requires at least 400 games.

Players with an established Fargo will generally play at that rating. However, if a player’s known ability differs significantly from their Fargo rating, the league operator will determine the rating used for DCTX league play.

The highest Fargo rating will be used.

Players Without an Established Fargo

Players with fewer than 400 Fargo games are subject to review.

A player without an established Fargo may qualify using an APA skill level, provided they have at least 10 recent APA matches.

The following conversion chart will be used, subject to adjustment by the league operator based on known ability:

APA Skill Level| Assigned Fargo

1| 250

2| 300

3| 350

4| 400

5| 450

6| 500

7, 8, or 9| Determined by the league operator

Players must have an established Fargo or qualifying APA rating unless the league operator has enough information to assess their ability.

For players without an established Fargo who have a qualifying APA rating, the APA conversion chart applies, subject to the league operator’s review.

Final eligibility and rating decisions rest with the league operator.

45-Second Shot Clock

A team may request a 45-second shot clock if the opposing team is taking excessive time between shots.

- A warning must be given first.

- Once enforced, both teams must follow the shot clock.

Scoresheets

- Blank scoresheets will be available at Clicks in a white binder in the designated storage bin.

- Follow the scoresheet for game order and breaking assignments.

- After completing a match, place the completed scoresheets in the front pocket of the red binder in the storage bin.

- Take a clear photo of the completed scoresheets in case the originals are lost.

- Paper scoresheets will be recycled after the results are entered into the standings.

This will NOT be Sanctioned or Affiliated with any League

These guidelines may be updated as needed.
